My fellow Americans, I am honored, to say the least, that you have elected me to become the next president of the United States of America. Not only have you voted for the first female president, you’ve also voted for change. A change that was long overdue. For too long this country has been led by male presidents, 45 to be exact. By electing a woman to be your president, you have made this election go down in history. You showed everyone that the people of this nation have put behind past beliefs of needing a male to govern them. Consequently, this year’s election is a major step forward to equality in this country. Similar to the election back in 2009, when Barack Obama showed that a member of a racial minority is able to represent a country, I can now prove to you that a female can, too. I am truly positive that this election can be the start of a new era – the beginning of a future in which the president’s job is no longer defined by sex. Folks, thanks to your votes I can gratefully say that I am the first female head of state in the US, and I can promise you that I won’t be the last!
We, the nation of America, must stand together, especially in these though times in order to bring back life to the states. But our current situation is very serious since the number of new infections and deaths is still increasing every day. That’s why I ask you to use your rationality. Be responsible and follow the regulations by simply wearing a mask. Don’t fall for the fake news that is currently spread all around the world as it is dangerous and only creates tension. Especially in these times of Covid-19 it is important to get correct information from scientists to get a real view on the seriousness of the situation. That’s the only way to get the corona virus under control and to finally get back to normal. Speaking of one serious situation to another, let me drop some names, listen carefully and tell me what feelings these names cause in you. Walter Scott. Jonathan Ferrell. Sandra Bland. Breonna Taylor. George Floyd. What do you feel? Sadness? Anger?
In a state with people who complain about obligatory masks - because it threatens their freedom - who feel pressured by the government, so pressured that they "can't breathe"… Why do those people act violently against minorities or blacks? Do you want freedom, America? Freedom, but only for the old white man? I'm telling you: Right now, America is not the land of freedom anymore. America has become a land of fear, hate, mistrust and violence. Do you want freedom, America? Then stop being passive and start to fight for your freedom and for the freedom of all fellow Americans. Free your America!
You have chosen me to fight for our freedom, but I can't do this on my own. We need all of you, every single one in this state. A storm is coming towards us, not Whites against Blacks, but injustice against peace. We are all in this together, Whites and Blacks, Men and Women, Democrats and Republicans. Defend our country against the upcoming conflict, against the hate and the injustice. Let's make this country safe for our children again. Our children’s future depends on how we act right now. Let’s talk about something else that we must change immediately to ensure a future world worth living in for our offspring: climate change.
Climate change and the associated global warming are probably one of the greatest challenges our society is facing right now. Scientists have proven that man-made climate change is real and that it poses a great threat to the entire planet. Current data suggests that we need to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions in developed countries by at least 80% by 2050 in order to have a chance of staying below an average temperature rise of over 2°.
However, if we fail to do this, it will have long-lasting and irrevocable consequences, such as a continued rise of temperature, more heat waves and droughts, more intense hurricanes as well a progressive rise of the sea level. So basically, our planet is going to hit disaster if we don’t turn this ship around. In my presidency, my goal is to treat Climate Change like the serious, existential threat it is by drafting an ambitious solution on the scale necessary – aka the Green New Deal – to get it done3. However, this deal on its own is not going to stop climate change. That’s why I ask all of you to contribute your share in order to reduce global warming and climate change, in favor of a safe and secure environment for many generations to come. The future generations will thank us. However, we also have to thank the generations before us: These past generations have left us a democracy. We live this a democracy and we’re proud of it. But there is a matter that threatens this very democracy.
The Presidential election, the election that decides who our next leader will be. The question I’m asking you is, is this system actually democratic? Electing a candidate who doesn’t necessarily need the majority of all people but the majority of the Electoral College? Can it really be democratic that the majority’s vote for one candidate doesn’t matter just because they lost more States? Where’s the democracy in that? Wouldn’t it be more democratic, fairer to elect the candidate who got more votes?
Ladies and gentlemen, as I’m standing here, I promise you to act and change our system to a more democratic one and to make every vote count. I promise you, the people, that I will strengthen our democratic system, so every citizen’s opinion is heard. No matter if young or old, Black or White, Woman or Man. Every vote counts. I also promise you that the United States of America will become a better place by taking care of the most important problems of our time such as Covid-19, climate change, the protection of our democracy and equality for all. For an evolving America. It’s time for change.
By electing me, the first female president of the US, you have taken the first step towards a more equal America. May God bless you all and America as a whole. Thank you.
